yoga INSTRUCTOR

Pronouns: she/her

Teaching Style: flowy vinyasa

Favorite Pose: My favorite pose is prasarita padottanasana (wide leg forward fold). I love how this pose can lead to so much variety depending on how I'm feeling that day. Sometimes I'll stay static in the fold, go into tripod headstand, or even sway back and forth in skandasana.

Bio: I was introduced to yoga in 2018 during a time when I was struggling with an eating disorder. As part of my recovery process, my doctor recommended I try yoga as a way to reconnect with my physical body in a positive way. The physical practice of yoga made me feel grounded, and I slowly began forming a new relationship with my body that stemmed from love, strength, and patience.

I completed my 200 hour YTT with Yogamaya NYC which focused on Bhakti, Ayurveda, the chakra system, and asana alignment based from B.K.S. Iyengar. I practice and teach a vinyasa style class that leads up to a peak pose. This means, the flow of every class builds up to one asana that is the focus of that day. By utilizing this style, I aim to demonstrate how poses can be advanced, modified, or aided with props; this way students can build the confidence and knowledge to move freely through a class, or on their own.

Yoga is such a big part of my life and has taught me how to become the best version of myself (still learning and changing every day). I am so honored and excited to share my love for yoga with everyone at heart fire!
